AUCKLAND SAVINGS BANK DISTRIBUTES £6250 IN GIFTS
Auckland, April 26. Donations totalling £6250 in aid of institutions which are giving valuable service to the community were announced at the annual meeting of the trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank. Tim gifts are subject to' the ap - proval of the Governor-General in Council. The New Zealand Obstetrical Endowment appeal, is to be assisted to the extent of £2OOO. A similar sum is to be donated to the Auckland branch of the Plunket Society for the purpose of paying off the mortgage on its headquarters building. A gift of £IOOO is to be made to, the Auckland branch of the St. John Ambulance Association. The Auckland Hospital Board is to receive £750 for the creation of an endowment fund towards the purchase of radium for use in Auckland. The Sailors’ Home endowment fund is to receive £SOO.
Donations made by the Bank since its inauguration of the practice in 100(5 amount to the nmgni(ieent total of .6118,100 and many deserving' institutions and causes have benefited, particularly since ]Ol4, when the donations, with one or two exceptions, have been made annually.
