FOXTON-PALMERSTON NORTH HIGHWAY.
The bituminising of the threemile portion of highway between Rangiotu and the Tiakitahuna section via what is known as the “Half Crown,” is now in progress by the Kairanga County Council. When this section is completed —and, judging by the progress being made, it will not be long —the Kairanga. County will have completed the whole of the iFoxton-Dalmerston highway throughout their boundary. The cambre of the “Half-Crown” will lie reduced to a safety level. This soetinu when constructed years ago, proved a difficult and expensive undertaking as it traversed a boggy area and a commission compelled the Manawatn County Council to bear a portion ot the cost. Tile sealing of the Manawatn County Council's section between Foxlou and Rangiotu is lobe proceeded with and tenders for the lir-t section, from the Foxton borough to Ilimatangi, will shortly be accepted.
