GARDEN PARTY.
Favoured with a line afternoon I here was a large attendance at the Presbyterian manse yesterday, on the occasion of the garden party and sale of goods in connection with the both anniversary celebrations. Stalls were erected on the lawn and “good business” was reported by those in charge. Mr. ami Mrs. Nicholas had spared no pains to provide for the comfort and entertainment of those present and welcomed the guests. Competitions and a “potalo hunt” created a pleasant diversion while the “old folks” enjoyed a social chat. A willing and happy band of helpers assisted in the various activities. 'The competitions were won as follows: —Quoits, (supervised by Miss King), won by Miss Sylvia Williams: nail driving, (Miss Stevenson), won by Mrs. Hopkins and Mr. A. Anderson; putting competition, (Mr. A. Anderson), won in the finals by the Rev. \Y. IT. Walton; potato limit, won by Miss MoEwan. The afternoon tea arrangements were supervised by Mesdames John Boss, 8. Easton, and R. Hornblow; fancy goods, Mesdames Barron and Nichols; produce, Afesdames MoEwan, Satherley, Martin and Miss B. Speirs; sweets stall, Misses Patterson (2) and Stevenson (2); cake stall, Mesdames Stevenson, King, Yardloy and Miss Spoil's: gate steward. Miss .Littlejohn; secretary, Mrs. J. M. Thomson. The Rev. \\. IT. Nicholas thanked all who had assisted both with gifts and by their attendance to make (lie affair so successful.
