Mr. I'’,. It. .failings, of Palmerston North, was appointed auditor vice Mr. R. A. Fuller, deceased. Prom Mr. A. Seifert, reporting oil the result of a representative deputation from the Association which .waited on the .Minister ol hands in regard to the super-tax. \ eommnnication was also received from the Minister on the matter. — Mr. Wilson said that the representations of the Association had done a considerable amount of good as he had not heard of any miller who had not been met liy the Hardship ( lauso Committee.
Prom the X.Z. Employers’ Federation, intimating that the Workers’ Compensation Enquiry Committee had now been set up to hear evidence in regard to workers eompensa I ion and asking the Association to prepare any evidence do--,ircd to place before the Committee at the earliest possible date. — Received. An account a mount ing to Cl Fi b was passed for payment, ip,RACK BER RY CUTTING DISPUTE. The Minister of Labour wrote in reference to the Arbitration Court sitting to decide the basic wage relative to blackberry cutting in the -wamps. The president said that the Association had received a communica - tion from the Union asking that an alleged breach of the Award dispute he heard in Wellington. The Association was given only three days’ notice and consequently iin* mediately protested on the lack of lime and also on the grounds that it hud also been understood that no (lax eases he heard in Wellington as Palmerston North was more suit able, it was finally agreed that the dispute will be,ventilated at the Arbitration Court at Palmerston X. oil April ‘Jth. The case arose from the' employment of Jtaxworkers in blackberry cutting in ttie swamps. It opened up a very big question and might lead to other matters. It, was decided to apply for the Association to be joined with Messrs Wliitaimui Ltd. as defendants in the ease and that the N.Z. Pmployers' Federation advocate be engaged to conduct the case. Mr. P. Sutton was appointed to represent the Foxton millers in connection with the case.
