POWER BOARD FINANCE.
TREASURER’S REPORT
The £ollowin#r report was submitted by the treasurer, to last week’s meeting of the Hovowhenua Power Board: — ACCOUNTS.
The accounts paid since last meeting and now submitted foi oonfirma t-ion total £730 14/0, to which is to be added the wages foi the period due March 15th. The indent order for brass screws, etc., from Messrs Davis and Timmins, Ltd., London, paid for on demand draft, has not come to hand. These goods have been lost in transit between Wellington and Levin, and a claim has been made for their insured value, £2O. The accounts to be paid total £GO3 18/5. REVENUE EARNED. The following is a statement of revenue earned for 10 months of the current financial year:— 10 months Last 2 Estima 1020-30 months ted for 1028-20 1020-30 Lighting £12803 £1852 £l4lOO Heating and booking 0200 1050 0200 Water-beat-ing 3012 505 3400 Power 12002 4380 10000 Street lighting 1004 332 1320 Totals £35001 £B2IB £41020 With £35,801 earned for 10 months, and a reading in both the northern and southern areas, together with the large accounts for the quarter ending March 31st, 1030. yet- to come, the revenue earned for the year should be well ahead of the estimate. To give members an idea of the revenue which may he expected for the remaining’ portion of the year, the amount actually earned for this period last year (£8218) is shown above. This added to the revenue already earned would bring the total to over £44,000, and I think, on the increase shown during the year, that even this figure will he exceeded. The position is, therefore, satisfactory; but I should like to point out that, while the revenue will he more than the estimate, the expenditure will also be up, particularly the electricity purchases. The maximum demand for the current quarter is approaching last quarter’s, which was the highest yet ex'perionced, so that the electricity purchases will probably amount to £18,500. Tin l estimated amount was £IO,OOO. The Audit Office has approved of an imprest account for the full amount asked for by the Boai’d, £1000; the account to be operated on by (be Treasurer and Mr. Blenkliorn.
