BOWLING.
MANSON AMD BARK. CUP. A rink representing Poston Club paid a visit to Levin yesterday afternoon to play Monk’s rink for the honour of holding the Manson and Barr Cup. An interesting game resulted in the Levin rink retaining the trophy by a margin of four points. At the commencement of play Pox ton drew first blood with a single, and Levin followed suit on the next. On the third head the challengers added another single, but Levin retaliated by adding a two and two consecutive fours, and a little later the score stood 13 —3 in favour of the home rink. However, the challengers got into their stride, and added a string of singles to their score, which they ultimately topped oh with a four, and by the time the twentieth head was played the score stood , 19 —17, leaving Poxton three to get on the last head to win. The Levin third, however, who had 'been a thorn in the side of the challengers throughout the game, drew in a nice one which cut Poxton out of four. T'he Foxton skip failed to remove the bowl however, and the Levin skip drew another shot, mkaing the final scores 21—17. The teams were as follow:—Levin: Walker, Pyke, Brown, Monks (s) 21; Hinds, Mewth, Christie, Huntley (s‘) 17. . A local rink consisting of J. I (cay, John Ross, Nye and Thomson (s) will represent Poxton in the champion of champions rinks contest at Palmerston North on Saturday.
On Wednesday next two rinks from Levin and. two from Shannon will visit Poxton green.
