AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL STATISTICS.
i> epaittm;enta l official’s VISIT. A visitor to Puxlon is Mr. Henry Bertliold, an ex-Poxton boy, who is located here for the purpose of gathering the agricultural statistics for the 1929-30 season. Mr. Bertliold is attached to the Census and Statistics Office, Wellington, and occupies the position of officerin -elm rge of the Agricultural and Pastoral statistics branch. For official reasons he is anxious to complete the collecting' work as early as possible and to this purpose hopes to obtain the assistance and co-operation of occupiers of land in the district whom he is now in the process of visiting. Mr. Bertliold explains that the present enumeration is of special importance this year as it marks the Dominion’s participation in a simultaneous world Agricultural census for which the International Institute of Agriculture, Koine, lias been planning for some years. Every care lias been taken to ensure uniformity in the returns for all countries, the Governments of several of which have hitherto never taken an agricultural census of any description. There can be no doubt that the results, when classified amt assembled, will provide a most compreliensife and accurate statement of world production, and will prove of the greatest economic value.
