FOXTON RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxton Rugby Football Club was held last evening, presided over by Mr. F. Robinson (President). Also present were Messrs J. Newton, W. Broad, B. Walls, W. Neville, C. Procter, L. McCarthy, and the secretary (Mr. K. Hiriui). Mr. C. Simpson was elected coach for the Third Coach team, the matter of appointment of Junior coach being held over. The Huia Club (Rangiotu) wrote suggesting a friendly game with the .Juniors at an early date. It was decided to endeavour to arrange a game for Saturday, March 29th to be played on Easton Park, Foxton, admission to be fid.
It was reported that the 1000 e.p. lamp had been erected on Easton Park and successfully tried out. It was decided to remove the electric installation from the old practice shed. The matter of preparing a ground on the racecourse was left in the hands of the President. . It was decided to write to the Foxton' Amateur /Cycling and Athletic Club asking them to replace the portion of fence removed from Easton Park.
It was resolved to apply for reinstatement for P. Hickey from League to Rugby at the next meeting of the Horowhenua Union.
The friendly game of Rugby played on Saturday between the Wanderers and Hutt senior teams, at Lower Hutt, resulted in a win for the home side by 11 points to 8. Play was fast for the first ten minutes, but thereafter early-sea-son form prevailed, and the contest was of a somewhat ragged character, with the advantage on the side of Hutt, who have had a fair amount of training lately.
