SUCCESSFUL NON-STOP FLIGHT

FROAI DUNEDIN TO AUCKLAND.

Auckland, March 15. The first non-stop flight from Dunedin to Auckland was successfully accomplished to-day by Captain J. D. Hewett, of Auckland, in n do Havilaml Moth aeroplane titled with a Gypsy engine. Bv doing the journey in 10 hours exactly Captain Hewett established n record for long-distance flying in the Dominion. He took off from Dunedin at (5.40 a.m. to-day and landed at the Auckland Aero Club's aerodrome at Mange re at 4.40 pan. Throughout the trip the weather was excellent with a light head wind. The pilot passed over Wellington at noon and Palmerston North at 1.15 and eontinuing on along the Main Trunk railway line he reached Auckland at' the time stated. (Captain Hewett said he enjoyed the (light immensely and was not at all tired. The distance covered by Captain Hewett is estimated at about S3O miles. He carried (15 gallons of petrol and about 50 gallons wore used.
