WOMAN SHOPLIFTER.
THREE WEEKS’ GAOL,
Auckland, February 20.
In the Police Court, Mary Haslip (41) was sentenced by Mr. F. K. Hunt:, S.M., to twenty-one days’ imprisonment for shop-lifting and on three charges of stealing from a city drapery store eight frocks valued at £62. Chief Detective Hammond said that the accused, who had pleaded guilty, was living apart from her husband, but was being maintained by bun. The accused and her daughter were seen in the street by a shop assistant who identified the stolen frocks worn by them. The accused was “dressed to kill." Other stolen goods were found in the accused’s residence.
