ROY FALLS THIRTY FEET
SERIOUS INJURIES SUSTAINED
A serious accident befel Ray, the fourteen-yeaivpld son of Mr. and Mrs. John Donaldson, of Beach Road last Saturday. He was engaged in gathering pine cones in Mrs. AY. Robinson’s plantation, on Beach Road, when a limb of the tree on which he was operating, snapped and he fell thirty feet to the ground. It was seen that the lad was badly injured and after receiving medical attention he was removed to the Palmerston North Hospital where lie was found to be .suffering from a fractured thigh, (oneussion and facial abrasions. He is, however, reported to be progressing satisfactorily. The lad was accompanied by one of Mr. A. Fee’s boys on the cone collecting expedition and when the accident happened this lad displayed considerable presence of mind. Before leaving for assistance he look off bis coat and covered his injured companion up and made him as comfortable as possible and realising the serious nature of his injuries he then made all haste to secure medical aid with the result l bat. it was not long before the boy was receiving attention.
