Mr. W. Hirini, thy-wclT-ik’uown Local swimmer met with an accident yesterday which necessitated several stitches being put in a cut under the eye. As a result’he will he incapacitated for a few days.
A painful accident befell Air J. Kr;tncis, it member of the “Herald” sial'f Phis morning, when following tin’ diflies of his employment:. While engaged with one of -the smaller printing presses, the lingers of his right hand were rather severely crushed. Upon medical assistance being obtained it was louud that fortunatlely no bones were broken.
The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, is 'benefiting so satisfeatorilv from his sojourn at Rotorua Ilia! if is proposed that he should remain longer Ilian was originally intended, in order that he might, get the full value of the treatment. Sir Joseph Ward had Intended to remain three weeks only in the thermal centre.
The death took place at Palmerston North on Tuesday of a wellknown settler in the person of Mr. George Kendall, aged 81 years. The deceased was at one time a member of the Maimwatu County Council, Kilzherliert Road Board and Palmerston Hospital Board and Borough Council. A widow and two daughters. Miss L. Kendall and Mrs. Carson (Bulls) arc left to mourn their loss. The death occurred on 'Tuesday at the Palmerston North hospital, of Mr A. 8. Collyer, a well-'known IWilding business mini. The late Mr i("ollyer who was 07 years of age, had been in indifferent health for some time. He is survived by a widow, three daughters, Mrs H. Berry, of Thyime Street, Poxton, and Misses Ruby and Eva Collyer, and one son, Mr A. Collyer, of Wellington, to whom the sympathy of a large circle of friends will he extended. The interment took place at Wellington to-day.
