FOXTON LIFE SAVING PATROL.

FIRST PRACTICE ON OCEAN BEACH ON SUNDAY.

The Foxton Surf and Life Saving Cluli held their first practice on the ocean beach on Sunday afternoon. Messrs W C. Collier and Small, came down from Palmerston North to instruct the Patrol and in this they were assisted by/Air. D’Arthur, of the Alaranui Patrol, of Wellington. The line was manned as follows:—Belt: Mr. A. B. AleCorkiudalo; Ist linesman: Air. R. Reay; 2nd linesman: Air. F. Burns (captain); 3rd linesman: Air. Adams; reel: Air. B’Arthur. Air. R. Ilirini acted as the patient and Air. (1. Ilirini as support. The demonstration was very well carried out and reflected much credit on the members of the Club. A'strong set into the shore made the work somewhat difficult hut nevertheless the patient was reached very promptly and' very soon brought ashore. A large crowd -of spectators watch cd the proceedings which were interesting and instructive. A collection was made on the beach to assist the club and the sum of £.l raised. .Messrs ('oilier and Small also instructed the patrol in land drill and are deserving of the thanks of all bathers and others who patronise the beach for their very useful instruction and assistance.
