ADVANCE OF ELECTRICITY.
A number of interesting figures were supplied to the llorowhenua Power -Board oh Tuesday, in a statement prepared by the engineer (Air. J. A. Smith) illustrating the increasing demand for electricity in New Zealand up to March 31st, 1029. In a statement setting out the distribution of consumers, ranges and water-heaters, it- was shown that in' the Horod'iienua district. the ratio of consumers to population was 18.42, the next above this proportion being Central (Waikato), 18.49, and Te Awamutu 18.82. Auckland was highest, with 23.21, and South Canterbury lowest with 7.15. In Alana watu-Oroua the ratio was 10.55. The sum of the maximum loads on supply stations was 144,220 kilowatts —an increase of 20,781 k.w. over the previous 12 months, or 22.7 per cent. The number of anils sold was 541,254,004 —an increase of 83,040,201. The revenue (sale of current) was £3,754,241 —an increase of £380,522. The milking plants at Alareh 21st, 1029 were 10.101, an increase of 1047, or 10.3 per cent.; water-heaters, 20,257 (77-14, or 30.(f per emit); ranges, 20,254 (4,488, or 28.4 per emit.); consumers 200,300, (22,515, or 0.2 per cent.)
