DECEMBER GRADING RETURNS. 1 I l The grading returns for hemp, tow, sfjripper low, and stripper f -dips for the month of December , have been issued by the Department , of Agriculture as follows: — . The number of bales graded at, each polrt, was: —Auckland 1827, Wellington 2301, Foxton 1331, Prilon 235, Dunedin 192, Pt. Chalmers 41, Bluff 907, Wjaikukn 17. The following shows the detailed particulars of the tow graded:— Ports Ist 2nd 3rd Auckland Wellington —■ 419 152 Foxton 26 310 0 Pieton ' 25 15 Dunedin —-41 Bluff Wnikufku Fifteen bales at Auckland, and 19 at Wellington were condemned. The following shows the number of hales in each grade, the number for the corresponding period of last year being given in parenthesis:—lst grade 51 (167), 2nd grade 1744 (1233), 3rd grade 562 (391), condemned 34- (100), a, total of 2391 bales as against 1891 hales graded the same period last year, an increase of 500 bales. ~'The number of bales graded at each port was-: —Auckland 621, Wellington 590, Foxton 348, Pieton 40, Bluff 511, Dunedin 41, Waiknku 240. . .Stripper Tow: —Fifty-eight bales at: Wellington wetre graded 2nd grade and 27 were graded 3rd grade. A total number of 85 bales as against 120 bales graded the same period last year, a- decrease of 41 hales. Stripper Slips:—Eight bales at the Bluff were graded 2nd grade, and one hundred hales at the Bluff and 18 at Dunedin were graded 3rd grade. The total number graded was 1.2 G bales as against 167 bales graded the same period last year, a decrease of 41 hales.
