The death took place tit the Northern AYairoa Hospital, Te Kopuru, of Afervyn AlcCarroll, aged 25, a single man, one of the v'ie-
tinis of the motor smash at Clink's Gully, on Monday evening. Deceased, with two others, was motoring on Monday night on the heaeh jn a home-made racing ear ail'd in doing a sharp turn the front wheel collapsed. The car overturned, pinning Messrs McCarroll and G. Gates underneath. The other occupant, Mir. .J. Elliott, who was riding on the hack of the ear, was thrown clear. Mr. McCarroll .was extricated from the wreckage and found to be badly crushed, but liis injuries wei tfe not considered serious. He, however, was taken to hospital where complications set in with the result that he died last night. Mr. Gates suffered extensive bruises and Mr. Elliott was )>raetienlly unhurt.
