IN DIVORCE.
FIGURES FOR 1929. Thirty-five petitions for the dissolution or nullity of marriage were filed in the Palmerston North Supreme Court last year, an increase of nine in the figures for the previous 12 months. An increase was also registered in -the number of .decrees or petitions filed, while decrees absolute numbered 12, an increase of two, and decrees nisi not yet absolute (reached 16, representing-’ an increase of four over the year 1928. Additional statistics- are as follow, the figures for 1 In* previous year being in brackets: —Decree-; during the year on petitions tiled in previous year: Absolute, following pievious nisi, .10 (l(i); absolute, fo-llnwiing nisi during the year, I (5); nisi 'made absolute, 1 (1); petitions tiled during year but not heard, 7 (4): while no petitions were in previous year as against one for 1928. A decree was made for the only petition for restitution of conjugal rights reee-ivod during the year, while for 1928 there were seven similar petitions, four decrees beinggiven.
