ALLEGED SUICIDE PACT.
DAVIES’S BODY FOUNT). Auckland, January 0. The body of J. L. Davies, for whom a search lias been made on the waterfront, since last Wednesday, was recovered inside the eastern tide 'deflector this afternoon. His lint and coat and a number of letters written by him and Mrs. Julia Cubitt, in which they indicated their intention of committing suicide together, were found on the wafer’s edge last week, and at the same time Mrs. Cubitt was discovered lying unconscious on tho rocks'. The body was seen floating by a. passer-by, who informed the police. It was at once identified as that of Davies.
An inquest will be opened tomorrow, but. it. will probably be adjurned sine die. after formal evidence lias been taken, as Mrs. Cubitt, although she has continued to show improvement each day, is not yet in a fit state to give evidence before the Coroner. Su far she has not given any explanation of tiie affair to the police.
