Airs. Frankland and Aliss Symons, of Wellington, are at present in Foxton. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Cowley and Air. and Mrs. G. IT. Potts have returned home after a motor camping trip dn the Hawke’s Bay district.
Airs. Crowe, of Auckland, is spending*. a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, of Tlivnne Street.
Alisses AI. Poole, AT. Mason, E. Rout, E. Henrieksen and A. Roore left by train this morning en route for Trentham to attend the Girl Guides Camp.
The Rev. AY. H- Nicholas has made a holiday exchange the Rev. R. Cafherwood, of Thrakina. Air. Catheiuvood will occupy the Foxton manse and conduct the services at the Presbyterian Church during his residence and undertake any pastoral work required.
• A road construction authority in conversation with our representative expressed the opinion that unless the surface of the FoxtonIlimatangii highway is sealed it will he necessary to provide it with another coat of metal as the excessive traffic is reducing it to flying dust.
The death has occurred at Hamilton of All - . Robert Henry Boyd, late chief postmaster, Wellington, aged 5(5 years. lie was formerly chief postmaster at Hamilton. Starling - as a cadet at Hawern he was in tujrn second money order elerk at Wanganui, postmaster at Morrinsville, and chief post-master at Thames.

Petersen, advance agent for .Messrs Wirth Bros, cineus, who was in town this morning - making preliminary iamingements for a visit of Hie huge combination of circus and menagerie to Foxton, has a record which will take some -beating. He has been connected noth Alessrs Wirth Bros, circus for the past thirty years dutring which time he has visited practically every part of the globe.
A very large gathering of Roman Catholic clergy will attend the ‘‘month’s mind” for the late Bishop Cleary, which is to take place in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Auckland, on ! Friday, January 17. Those present will include Archbishops Redwood and O’Shea, all the New Zealand bishops, all the priests of the Auckland Diocese and a large number of ecclesiastics.- The pontiiieal requiem mass will be siuw by Dr. •!. Whyte, Bishop of Dunedin, and the discourse will be delivered by Dr. .1. AT. Liston, Bishop of Auckland. Viscount Oaigavon and Viscountess Craigavon visited Point Halsw well, Wellington, on Friday, and laid a handsome wreath on the grave of the late Rt. Hon. AY. F. Massey. The wreath bore the following inscription: “A tribute of n Rect ion and esteem to a great Imperialjist and linn friend. From the people of Ulster.” —(Sgd.) Viscount and Viscountess tClraigavon. Viscount Craigavon expressed himself ns delighted with the conception of. the. memorial, and commented on the evident quality of the New Zealand marble which was being employed in its construction.
