MANSON AND BARR, CUP.

Four the fifth time in succession Thomson’s rink defended their right to hold the coveted Manson - and Barr Cup on Saturday last, ( this time against a rink from Terrae’e End Club. Foxton had an easy win, maintaining a- comfortable majrgin from the first, to finally win by 21 points to 10. The sixth head was reached before the visitors opened their account, when they managed a single, the home rink by this time having accumulated 7 points. On the seventh the visitors gained another single, but on the following two ends Thomson made a single and a three, the scores then standing 11 —2. Terrace' End again secured two consecutive singles, hut on the twelfth and thirteenth ends Foxton secured a single and a four, making the figures 16 —4. The fourteenth head ‘ 'gave Terrace End another .single _ only, and Foxton replied with a two on the next. Terrace End secured their first two on the sixteenth, which they repeated on the nineteenth, the holders meanwhile adding another pa.iir of singles, making the figures 20 —f). PAIRS TOURNEY TO-MORROW AND WEDNESDAY.

In accordance with, the wish of those present at the recent special ‘general meeting of members a pairs tourney will be held on the local green on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Play will commence at 10 a.m. on each day. The dinner hour will be observed between 12.30 and 1.30.

The conditions of play will include: —-Sealed handicaps. Tournament to be decided An aggregate points. Three games of 21 heads. Entrance, 2/6 per player, 50 per cent, to.be allotted to. the winners, 25 per cent, to the runners-up, and 25 per cent, to the Club funds.

Owing to the unfavourable weather on Wednesday last, the final round of the Triangular Shield contest, to have Men held on that date, had to be postponed. The new date will be decided upon after the holidavs.

NEW- YEAR. CENTRE TOURNAMENT.

The following pairs have nominated from Foxton for the New Year Centre Tournament at Palmerston North, to commence on New Year’s' Day Christie and Mattar, John Ross and ‘Thomson, W. Howe and W. Walls. -.A
