Mr. J. E. Clark who is at present undergoing treatment in the Waipnkurau Sanatorium is spending the Christmas holidays in Foxton. Miss Avis Barnett is spending her annual holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Barnett, ol' Avenue lioad, Roxton. Margaret Baijron has accepted an invitation 100 yards race against the New Zealand ladies’ champion, Miss E. Mairt.yn, at Wellington on Boxing,Day. Among the 1500 candidates who recently sat for the teacher’s examinations, thirteen were gazetted for special mention. Among this number is Miss Dorothy Edmondson,* a pupil of the local District High School and daughter of the Rev. J. 11. Edmondson. Miss Edmondson sat for the first section of her D certificate (mathematics) and obtained 85 per cent. Such success reflects credit upon both the student and teaching efficiency of the school.
