ALL SAINTS’ BEACH HOME.
The matron of all Saints’ Childlen’s Home thanks the following for gifts, etc., during the month of November: — Messrs Dorset arid Riches, meat; Mrs. Walls, c-akes and currant bread; Mr. lan Booth, children’s halls; Methodist Church Social, sandwiches and cakes; Mrs. Good, vegetables and clothes; Mrs. Failrev, pies and scones*; Mrs. Raikes (Oroua Downs), eggs. Messrs Ross and Go., remnants for dresses; Mr. Nye, bulbs; Miss .Elsie Barber, calkes; Mrs. Stone, sweets and novelties; Mrs. Hussey, flowers; Mrs. F. Robinson, shoes, dripping, plums and plants; Mrs. Nicholas, lettuce; Mrs. L. Abraham, Palmerston North, rhubarb and cabbage; Mr. Holloway, Levin, rhubarb; Mrs. Turlon, Levin, cream and flowers; Mr. Hart, free cartage; Mr. Sunnex, Wellington, remnants for dresses.
Dr. Derrec-k, medical director of the Plunket Society, visited the home on Thursday, and was pleased with everything. He picked up the youngest inmate and admired the brown body and limbs and said that was what was wanted in every child. He was delighted ito learn that the home used brown bread wholly, also to know that the children were not put into uniforms. He congratulated the matron on cultivating the love for a real home in the children in hope of it being carried out la tor in their own homes. If the child is encouraged to have and appreciate pretty surroundings indoors and outdoors it will always aim ai that, he said.
