KINNEBURGiH FEATHERS.
On Saturday the holders of the iKinneburgh feathers C. Hook, Bovis, IW'hibley, Quarrie (s) defended a challenge from a Levin rink, Walker, Monks, Sherwood, and Clements (s). The game was interesting throughout land good bowling was witnessed, the issue being in doubt right up to the last head.- The scores were five all on the 10th head, but on the 11th, Shannon secured a six making the scoro Shannon 15, Levin 6. Levin, however, set out to reduce the gap and on the 18th head secured a four and on the 20th a two, making play for the last head Levin 17, Shannon 18. Obtaining a one on this head, the holders retained the coveted trophy with a score of It) to 17. 4
The Pallia tua Club ai’e the next challengers fo|v the Manson and Barr trophy which is still in Eoxton’s possession. The match will take place at Foxton on Saturday.
A Terrace End rink issued a successful challenge for the Dixon Cup ah Feilding yesterday the scores ■being: —•" Terrace End: Christiansen, W. J. Smith, Jones, Johnson 19 beat Ramsay, J. Bartholomew, Wenham, Herdman 14. BOWjL TESTING. The endeavours of the Manawatu Bowling (Centre to get Palmerston North declared a howl testing centre will not bear fruit this year, according to a communication received by the president, Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P. ( • The letter from the Dominion Bowling Association states as follows: —“At the annual meeting of the council of my association in 1928 the following resolution was passed: ‘That in future no centre he constituted a bowl testing centre until it- has provided itself with a suitable plant and has the services of a competent tester, thoroughly instructed in the use of the rail to the satisfaction of the association’s official tester and that existing testing centres shall not, in future, engage a. tester unless he is thoroughly qualified and competent to use the rail to the satisfaction- of the association’s official tester.’ In view of the above it would he impossible to do anything this year. /The official howl 'tester,of my association is Mr. W. A. Seatt, of Dunedin, who has occupied the position for many years. Mr. Fairway, I think, has only recently been appointed 'tester for the Wellington Centre and his knowledge of the use of the testing rail and appliances must he limited.”
