HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT'. -
The Department of. Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated 23rd instant from the High Commissioner for NeAV Zealand, London: — Hemp. —Manila little firmer on better demand and reserve of sel-y ]ers. “J” grade for JanuaryMarch shipments sold at £35 5/-. Output Ist January to 31st October, 1,357.000 bales against. 1;,171, 000 bales same time last year. Stocks Manila 31st October 220,000 bales against 144,000; in Great Britain 12,107 against 10,894. Sisal ma|rket dull with pressure to sell afloat fair average quality, Avhieh has sold -:at £35. For good marks £36 obtainable, No. 1 steady and £3O paid for special marks. Fair average quality nominally £34.
NeAV Zealand. —'Small business doiie in fair, but buyers hesitate. Very little high points offering. Nominal comparative closing values for November-January shipments; high points £32 10/- to £33; fair £29 5/- to £29 10/-; others unchanged. B todies in. Great Britain on 31st October, 98 tons against 51 tons same time last year.
