Rev. \V. «H. (Nicholas left,., for Auckland this morning where he will spend a few days holiday. Mrs. Stone and family left Foxton -to-day for Wellington,, where they will take up their residence.
The friends of Mr. W. E. Bullard will regret to leajrn that he is confined to his bed with a severe attack of quinsey. Mr. Longworth, direetoir of phy r sical culture under the Education Department, paid a visit to the local District High School to-day. The Education Board has granted extended leave on eceount of ill-health to Miss Mountfort, infant mistress at the lqcal District High School.
“During my first visit-to Buckingham Palace,” 'declared Mr. Ramsay MacDonald,., .at the Royal Society of Medicine’s banquet in London last week, “while I was dazzled by the brilliant uniforms, I noticed a man whose dignity indicated that he was horn there. He asked me, if I remembered him, and when I replied in the negative, he reminded me that years ago a medical student and myself went out together into Gower Street after a -most respectable dinner. Looking at me anxiously,- he- asked, ‘How much have you got?’ I glanced hurriedly at my few ; odd coppers and replied, ‘How much have you got?’ Our combined .wealth was insufficient to save us from walking to Holloway Station.' Who could have forecasted that we should not meet again until we met as the King’s guests. He was Lord Dawson, of Penn, the King’s physician.
