NEW ZEALAND FLAXMILLERS’ ASSOCIATION.

A meeting -of tfic New Zealand Flax-millers’ Association was held 'n the Racing -Club’s office this morning, presided over by Mr. 11. .A. Seifert (President).- Also present were Messrs D. R. Ogilvy, A. Fraser, W. Ross, J. S. Moir, W. F. Wilson, E. Sutton, H. Berry, H. Seifert and the secretary (Mr. G. -.Fraser.. An absence was received from Mr. C. H; Speifs. Air. W. F. Wilson reported on the result of the deputation /to the Prime Minister relative ta. tax on .flax lands .and said that while the Prime Minister expressed his* sympathy towards 'the millers no action had vet been taken.

A lengthy report ■ was received from tlie N.Z. Employers’ Association of that body’s annual meeting. The report was received. Correspondence rvas. received from the secretary of the Northern Elaxmillers’ Association, asking the Association’s co-operation in combating the increase in production costs caused by an increase in freight charges on hemp and insurance premiums for employees accident cover. The Northern body also asked for co-operation in reducing the power charges. -

Mr. D. R. Ogilvy reported 'that lie had asked the Northern Association for a copy of power charges hut same had.not come to hand,The President said that while power charges might be fairly high, in some parts of the Dominion their rvas no complaint in this eonncclion in the TTorowhenua district. The local charges Avere entirely reasonable.

At the conclusion of the meeting members adjourned to the grading sited where the sele etfon of sample hanks for the ensuing N yoar was made in ..co-operation with the .Chief Hemp (liradev (Mr.. W. Petrie).-
