Alex arrived in Christchurch on September 25th, 1865, and three years later took up his residence in South Canterbury, where lie has been a successful farmer ever since. James (Copland reached Christchurch a yean 1 later than hikbrother and took up farming in North Canterbury, at which occupation lie also has been highly successful. The brothers, vvho reared lar*>e families, are both hale and hearty.
