Aliss I. Patterson is at present on holiday at Paekakariki. Airs. AY. E. Wood ham has returned to Foxton after an extended holiday in the South Island and Wairarapa district. Mrs. F. A. Alasoh returned to Foxton on 'Saturday after a holiday visit to the Hawke’s Bay district. Aliss N. Spring has to Foxton after spending a holiday in Tokomaru as the guest of Air. and Atfs. A. Grady. Ensign and Mrs. Alatheson, of the local Salvation Army, leave for the West Coast to-morrow where they will be spending their- annual letavc. Airs. A. D. B tan ley (nee Miss Una lOartetr), of Auckland, is spending a brief holiday in Foxton and is i the guest ; of Airs. J. K. Hornbid w.
The death occurred last Tuesday at iPliimnertou of Mr. W. H. Bennett, -who for many years was a resident of Manakuu. Mir. Percy Bennett, late of the Otaki -Dairy Co.’s stall, is a. son.
The, friends of Mr. J. Newton, Postmaster, -Fox ton, will regret to learn of the death of his father which took place in Wellington last .week.

.Vil-'eA'cnt probably, unique in the history of New Zealand took place at Timaru on Saturday when Alex Copland, of Timaru, and James Copland, of ATshburton, twin brothers celebrated their ninetieth birthday. Alex arrived in Christchurch on September 25th, 1865, and three years later took up his residence in South Canterbury, where lie has been a successful farmer ever since. James (Copland reached Christchurch a yean 1 later than hikbrother and took up farming in North Canterbury, at which occupation lie also has been highly successful. The brothers, vvho reared lar*>e families, are both hale and hearty.
