MAIN HIGHWAYS.
AMOUNTS ESTIMATED FOR CONSTRUCTION.
Road construction in the vicinity of Wellington will receive a good deal of attention during the coming year, according to the Main Highways Board estimates recently released. The largest item on the Wellington-Manawatu highway is £10,000 to be spent on the Horo-kiwi-Paekakariki section, while £9,131 will be devoted to the ParemataWaikanae section. The road from Upper Hutt to Waikanae will have £4500 spent on it. Two other large allocations are £11,250 for the Sanson-Awahuri section and £13,200 for the Hima-tangi-Rangiotu section. In some instances the Highways Board bears the total cost of the construction, and in others the particular local body in whose territory the road is situated finds a proportion.
