ALLEGED INDIGENT ASSAULT.
INDIAN DOCTOR CHARGED BY YOUNG GIRL.

Dr. Balder Singh Share, aged 46, an Indian doctor, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged with indecently assaulting a woman aged 23 on September 26.
The woman said she went to accused’s surgery to have a finger dressed. Accused attended to her and afterwards remarked that she was not a very robust girl. He advised an examination. Witness partially undressed and Share carried out his examination on a couch. During the examination, witness became suspicious. Share gave her a certificate for two weeks’ holiday and said she could come back for further examination whenever she liked. Witness complained to her employer, a woman. That night she told her young man of what had happened and m complaint was later made to the police.
Before she left the surgery, said witness, Share showed her some photographs. The firs.t of these were quite decent. Dr. T'owsley, police surgoon, said a certain part of the examination carried out by Share, as described by the girl, was very unusual. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said he received a complaint from the woman on October 1. 'The following day, he went to Dr. Share’s room at 11.20 a.m, to execute a search warrant. When told of the allegations made by the young woman, accused described the examination which he had made and denied all iTie allegations mode by her. Witness was handed some ordinary photographs by Share. He found a number of indecent photographs, which Share said no one, else had seen hut his wife and himself. When accused was arrested, on October 14, Share said: “It is a serious charge. It is hard when a slip of a gild can make a charge against a doctor.”
After reading the warrant himself, accused said it was untrue but added he would admit there were some very bad photographs found. “I have been up against it for some time,”, lie said. ‘-‘lf I sell my home and leave the country, will it make any difference? This will kill my wife and my son.” 'Shape pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme lOourt for trial. Bail was allowed.
