CHILDREN’S HEALTH CAMP

TRIBUTE TO MR, 11. LETHBRIDGE.

A fine tribute to Mr. Henry Lethbridge, of Turakina, was paid in the House of Representatives on Friday by Mr. J. Link! a ter (Manawatu) when speaking of children’s health camps, in' expressing gratification at the fact that the rate for health camps had been increased to £3OO.

Mr. Linklater said he believed the Dominion got very good value for money spent in this connection. Town children in poor health were enabled by this scheme to obtain the benefit of a week or two in the country amid invigorating surroundings. This privilege was greatly appreciated by the children whose parents were without the means to sendfhem away foVt a holiday. Great assistance had been given by Air. Henry Lethbridge, who year after year made his beautiful grounds available for children's camps free of charge and supplied free quantities of fresh meat and fresh vegetables. “If there were more 'men of Air. Lethbridge’s public-spirited type in New Zealand, it would be a happier country,” said Air. Liivklafor. In conclusion, Air. Linklater suggested that the Rongotea school might lie consolidated, as a very big district was affected. ~ The Minister of Education (Mr. A t more) stated in reply. 'that he agreed with what AIV. Linklater had said in regaird to health camps. The question of the consolidation of Rongotea school would be looked into.
