A letter was received from the Rongotea School Committee, enquiring whether it was the committee’s intention to establish a dental clinic. The letter went on to state: “It has (been suggested that you, like ourselves, will not have the number of children to employ a nurse full time, and it is also suggested by us, that from Foxton to Sanson, by having a clinic at your school, a nurse could be fully employed between both places and all the children in the area attended to. Wle have already approached the school committees around here and > they are willing to come into and assist in the establishment of the necessary buildings.” The chairman said the suggestion was worthy of serious consideration and he outlined the policy of the department on the subject.
The httul master and members agreed that the committee should co-operate with Rongotea. It was pointed out that the cookery room could be used far the purpose without incurring the expense of providing a separate building. The head master suggested that perhaps some arrangement could bo made with the local Plunket Society for the use of their building, when erected.
