MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
At the meeting of the ManawatuOroua River Board held at Palmerston North on Thursday, there were present-‘Messrs W. S. Carter (chairman), A. Seifert, A. 'Buchanan, B. , G. Gower, H. Akers, J. E. C. Hari isoiu R x Tanner, H. Batrber, R. J. Law. ' The board’s solicitor reported upon the progress in Parliament of Hie River Boai’d Amendment Act. He did not anticipate any difficulty in its being passed. The board approved of the Moutoa Drainage Board’s scheme for enlarging the gates at the Main drain and for erecting gates at Duck creek, protective works and stop banks rendered necessary by sudden breaches through floods, ... It was decided to add 10 per cent, penalty to rates unpaid on November 25.
