VALEDICTORY
Mrs. C. Symons entertained the*teaching staff of the local District High School at her resilience last evening, when' importunity was taken to farewell Mr. 'T. Chipper, a member of the staff prior to his departure for Levin, (o which school he has been lappointed. Musical items.and cards whiled away a very pleasant time. At a suitable juncture, Mr. F. A. Mason, head teacher, expressed re-gret-at Mi*. Chipper’s departure and at the same time made eulogistic reference to his splendid services. As a teacher he had done excellent 'work and he prophesied that his temperament and qualifications wo--pld carry him far in the profession. Outeide his class work Mr. Chipper had\aken a. keen interest in the selloolv games and had proved an cxcellentNmaeh. He had also rendered valuable assistance in training the children in concert work. He had won life respect and esteem of both the children-and staff. Their host wishes accompanied him in liis new sphere of labour. On behalf of: the staff he asked Mr. Chipper to accept a pipe and tobacco pouch as a mark of esteem. v Mr. Chippoir feelingly responded and said his eonneetion w'ithj the Foxton District High'School always remain a pleasant m mory. He referred to the splendid feeling which existed throughout the school and wished all the best of luck in the future. Mr. Chipper was 'accorded musical honours.
