FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING.
A special general .meeting of the Fox ton Horticultural Society was held in All Saints’ schoolroom on Monday evening''presided ever by Mr. W. 'S. JJeves (President). Also present -were Mesdames F. Procter, Edwards, Murphy, Woods, Heas- - man, M. Ross, Heyes, K. Martin, T’. A. Robinson, Moore, x and Messrs Heyes, Bullard, Poole, A. Robinson, T. A. Robinsoii, Revs. Walton and Edmondson and the secretary (Mr. E. J. Murphy). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Martin, and D. Christie and Mesdame.s Trueman, Honore and Baker.
• The president explained the object. of the meeting and called for any suggestions for the improvement of future shows.
Rev. Walton suggested that the Society should take steps to fittingly celebrate its 21st anniversary at the coming summer show and that! he Governor-General should he asked to open the exhibition.
In the event of the GovernorGeneral not being -able to attend, Mrs. Woods suggested that the Prime Minister be asked to preside at the opening. The names of Hon. J. G. Coates and T. M. Wilford were a’so mentioned.
It was decided to hold a babyshow at the summer exhibition for babies 12 months and undeir -and six months and under, respectively, Mrs. Moore moved that the Governor,be given the option of the ] 9th and 21st November and that lading him being able to open the show the date be definitely fixed for the 21st. This was carried.
It was also decided to arrange a concert programme for the evening session of the show and a committee was set up to make arrangements accordingly. To further mark the anniversary of the Society it was decided to,obtain a trophy to lie competed for for all time and to be awarded each year to the competitor gaining the most points over the whole show, competition to be open to all. It was resolved in .connection with the trophy that it be handed to the secretary fourteen days prior to any show. A sub-committee was set up to collect money for the puipose of the trophy. The show schedule was then relist'd and adopted. A special feature of the coming show will be the school work.
