MISSING FISHERMEN FOUND
ADVENTURE IN ROUGH SEA
Waihi, Sept. IS
Advice was received in Vaihi this afternoon of the safety of the party of three men, residents of Mntairoa Bay, who set out on Fri-
day afternoon in an open boat on a fishing expedition at the Bowentown Heads, and for whose safety
:ars were etertained yesterday, as
the men had not Wen seen since Sunday afternoon. At that time they were, some distance off -the Waihi Beach, and there was a strong south-west wind blowing.
The men were Mr, 11. E. Ham-
lin, schoolmaster, of Mataroa Bay, and two Maori companions, Isaac Hauraki and Ruatana Tikau, better known as Jack Davies, both young men.
The men lost the rowlocks from
the boat and were consequently unable to control their craft in the choppy seas. They were, blown out to Mayor Island, where they sheltered for two nights. A party of natives from Bowentown set out
by launch this morning to search for them and a. search was also conducted by the Waihi police. The party was found ou Mayor Island.
