PERSONAL.

The friends of Mrs. B. Hinds, of Main Street, will be pleased to learn that she is now making good progress towards recovery after her recent illness.

Madelene, the four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. Cresswell, of Main 'Street, had the misfortune to slip and fall in the Town Hall during the afternoon session of the Horticultural Society’s show on Thursday and sustain an injury to her arm. Medical examination disclosed the fact that the limb was fractured just above the elbow, as a result of the mishap. A pleasant. little ceremony took place during the evening session of the Foxton Horticultural Society’s spring show on Thursday when Mr. D. ICthristie called on Rev. W. H. Nicholas to accept on behalf of the Society, a fountain pen as a mark of the member’s appreciation of . his service. Mr. Christie • referred to the fact that during Mr. Nichblas’ term of office as secretary he had refused to accept any remuneration and the Society thought it only fitting that /hey should in, some way show their 1 appreciation of his services. Mr. Nicholas suitably responded and facetiously remarked although bis sermons were often dry he would take good care not to let his pen run dry. He very much appreciated the gift' and would cherish it as a reminder of his association with the Society. ’
