GAS MANAGERS REPORT.
At Monday night’s meeting of the [' tpxton Borough Council the gas manager (Mr. W. S. Heyes) reported that during 'the month five blocked services had been attended to and one faulty service taken up and repaired, the rest of the time being taken 'attending to consumer’s requirements and to the work at the works generally. —Adopted. The amount of gas manufactured i during the month of August was ' 388,500 ft., which with the amount J in the holder on August Ist 17,000 | ft. .made a total of 405,500 ft. j During the month 328,100 ft. was j. used by consumers, 20,000 ft. at the j works and there was 17,000 ft. in {the holder s on August 31st, malking l, a total of 365,100 ft. accounted foi\ ! and leaving ;40,400ft. representing ilO per cent, unaccounted for. 'Thirty-three tons nine cwt. of coal were carbonised, yielding 11,600 e. ft. of gas to the ton and producing 7 tons of coke.
The receipts for the month totalled £l7B 19/- and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £ls 4/-, heat and power £137 4/11, coke sales £l7 11/11, tar sales 8/-, weighing £3 1/6, services and fittings £4 10/8, miscellaneous 18/-. The expenditure for the month totalled £212 5/- and was made up as follows: —Coal £93 19/6, salaries and wages £SO 14/-, tools £2 17/9, engine repairs 6/-, cartage and freight 11/6, working expenses 9/-, interest and sinking fund £63 7/3.
