CORONER FUNDS CAR WAS DRIVEN RECKLESSLY.

Pahiatua, Sept. 4th.

At the inquest on James Robert Symonds, aged 48, residing at Ashhurst, gatekeeper at the Manawatu Gorge bridge, the coroner (Mr. J. D. Wilson) returned a. verdict that the 'deceased died of injuries caused by being run into by a car driven by Charles Robertson; that, in his opinion, Robertson did not take sufficient care to avoid such accident; further, that the ‘stop’ notice was disregarded; and that tlm length of the skid on the bridge, and the fact that it commenced -before reaching the bridge, indicated excessive speed.
