There was a fair attendance yesterday at Marion for the opening day of that Club’s spring meeting. Speculation was limited, bping £13,786, compared with £16,273 on the single day last year, a decrease of £2487. Results; — Trial Plate, six furlongs and 27 yards:—Lucre 1, Ivotiki Eka 2, Austerity 3. Wion by three lengths. Time lmin. 22 3-sscc.
First Hack Hurdles, one mile and a half:—Hard Gold (A. Skipper), 1, 'Lady Gay 2, Ah Were 3. Won bv eight lengths. Time 2min. 50 2-5 sec. Winner trained by A. M. Wright, Fox ton. Spring Hack Handicap, one mile mid 137 yards: —Royal Black 1, Calithe 2, Fine Acre 3. Won by a length. Time lmin. 50 l-ssec. Winner trained by F. J. Carmont, Foxton. .Marton Handicap, one mile and a quarter and 27 yards:—Barometer 1, Black Mint 2, Gold Cure 3. Won by a length. Time 2min. 19 sec. Hunt Cup Steeples, about two miles and tlijree-quarters: —Askari 1, Sunarl 2, Olympic 3. Won by a hundred yards. Time 5 min. 52sec. Tufcaemii Handicap, seven furlongs and 27 yards:—Desert Lad 1, Roi do Val 2, Goodwill 3. Won by a head. Time lmin. 38 2-ssee. Railway Handicap, six furlongs and 27 yards:—Eaglet 1, Blimp 2, P. S. Easton’s Moutoa Treasury 3. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time 1 min. 22 2-ssec.
