FOXTON LUNCH CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Foxton Lunch Club was hejd in Whyte’s Hotel to-day and was presided over by Mr. S. H. Poole. The speaker was Mr. R. Hornblow and the subject “Kapi'ti Island.” Those present were Messrs A. E. Scott, G. F. Smith, Mathcson, W. H. Walton, R. Sorbie, W. H. Nicholas, R. ,T. Thompson, iF. A. Mason, J. K. Ilornhlow, M. E. Perreau, W. S. Ileyes, G. Fraser, D. Christie, .T. Martin, W. Trueman, Edmondson, \V. Hart, C. M. ITewett and Murray. Apologies for absence were received front Messrs R. M. iParkes, I. Corn, W. E. Bullard, M. B. Borgin, J. Newton and O. Doel. At the conclusion of the address the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion of Messrs R. J. Thompson ahd F. A. Mason. Mr. Thompson said it was very pleasing to learn that the Government was taking such the necessary steps to preserve. New Zealand bird life and bush.

Mr. Mason endorsed Mr. Thompson’s remarks and said it was very regrettable that the hum was now extinct. It would have been a good thing if the liuia could have been added to the bird life on Kapiti and other bird sanctuaries in the Dominion.
