FANCY DRESS CATCHES ALIGHT.

Hawera, August 31,

After being dressed in a costume made of paper and light woollen material, to ‘attend a children’s fancy dress ball last evening, Morris George Trilford, aged 5 'years, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Trilford, of Ohangai, came into contact with a naked light in the house. The < hjld suffered severe burns, and was admitted to the hospital at 7 o’clock last evening. He died at 6 o’clock this morning. The child was the youngest of five children. Both tiie mother and father were severely burned while endeavouring to smother the flames.
