MILITARY TRAINING
The annual military training for cadets and territorials whieir has been in progress on the local raeecoulrse during the week concluded this morning. The attendance was good and excellent weather conditions made the training very pleasant from all points of view.
Physical exercises and the usual routine military training were gone through, the drill being well above the average standard. Rifle shooting .was also indulged in, the leading scores for the Country'Rifle Match being as follows: — J. IC'ummerfield 60, D. Chrystall 58, F. B. Cowley 58, M. Cochrane 56, C. Ilendrieik'Sen 55, ID. Yorke 51, A. Vertongen 53, K. Alexander 49, L. Davey 47, B. Saville 46. The territorials shooting resulted as follows:
J. C. Gower 95, W. Hussey 77, W. R. Thompson 74, A. B. McCorkindale 74, E. C. Murphy 57. The draining was of a competitive nature, the various platoons being in competition with each other which made the training very interesting to the trainees. Sergeant-Major Ryan was in charge of the camp and the N.C.O.’s. were Corporals A. B. McCorkindale, J. Gower, Hussey and Murphy.
