VICAR OF ALL SAINTS’ PALMERSTON N.

REV. G. Y. WOODWARD. The Rev. G. Y. Woodward, who was vicar of All Saints’, Foxton, prior to his appointment as vicar of Karori where he has laboured for 16 years, has been appointed vicar of All Saints’, Palmerston N. On Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Woodward were tendered a farewell by the parishioners. Mr. W. A. Andrews (chairman) in expressing the sorrow of those present at the loss of Mr. Woodward said that it was recognised that a more intense service of the Church called him. As a token of appreciation of Mr. Woodward’s sixteen years of residence in the parish lie presented the vicar with a handsome chiming clock. Although a great deal of work had been carried out during the vicar’s long term of office there had never been the slightest friction with the vestry or executive officers. Mr. Woodward was also presented with a well-filled wallet, and Mrs. Woodward was asked to receive toilet and manicure outfits from the parishioners and a teaservice from the Ladies’ Guild. In conclusion the speakefi wished the departing vicar and * his family every success, long life, and happiness.

The Rev. J. Dennis (Methodist) and the Rev. R. Wood (Presbyterian) both wished Mr. Woodward every success in his new parish. Replying,-the Rev. Mr. Woodward thanked his parish for the farewell which they had given Mrs. Woodward and himself and for their bAiutifuf and costly gifts. The sentiment of love and affection behind them was deeply appreciated. When he had received from the Bishop the offer of the Palmerston parish it had only been the fact that he thought the people of Karori and Makara could do with a change after sixteen years which had decided him.
