INSPECTOR’S REPORT. During the past month I have been engaged in the general inspection of properties in the Board area. The weather during the month has been an improvement on that of the previous month, and a fair amount of work has been carried out. The majority of the properties inspected during the month have been found to be in very fair order, and the result of the work carried out in the winter months is now evident. On several properties more work is required, and the owners of these properties have been written to, requesting them to complete the work necessary for the eradication of the pest on their properties, and these notices will later be followed up with a personal inspection. With the exception of these areas the district is in good order at present, and if continued watch is kept by landowners themselves, there should be no sejrious increase of the pest during the coming months. It is at this season of the year, when breeding is taking place, that it is so essejitial that the pest should be kept down to the fullest extent possible within the power of the landowner.
Owing to the amount of water in the Rangitilkei river, the poisoning »of the islands has not yet taken place, but this will be attended to as soon as conditions will allow. I was unable to obtain the necessary number of live rabbits required by the University Authorities, as they wished them consigned in the two lots of forty each time, and as only a few could be obtained at a time it was considered impossible to keep them here in captivity until such time as the required number could be obtained.
During the coming month I shall be engaged in general inspection work. —Adopted.
