Mr. J. Desmond, of Wellington, is at present on a holiday visit to Foxton. Mr. Johnston, of the local Post Office staff, has resumed duty after being absent on sick leave. During his absence Mr. M. Robinson, of Palmerston North, acted as relieving officer. The friends of Mr. J. E- Clark, of the P. and T. Department, will regret to learn that he has been compelled to enter the Waipukurau Sanatorium for six months treatment for an old Avar disability. Mr. dark leaves for Waipukurau on Monday. The death occurred in Palmerston North on Thursday of Mr. Charles Dahl, Vice-tCfonsul for Denmark, aged 73, folloAAdng on an attack of influenza- The late Mr. Dahl came to NeAV Zealand as a young man and set up in business in Palmerston as a rope and tent maker. He Avas also closely associated .Avith the dairying industry as an importer of dairying machinery, and Avas deeply interested in its welfare. For ten years he 'held consular office and Avas created a Knight of the Ensign, the highest honour short of a peerage, that the King of Denmark can bestoAV. Deceased was a member of the Masonic order. He is survived by his AvidoAv and seven children —Mrs. Whitehead (Napier), Miss Pearl Dahl (Denver, Colorado), Messrs Charles (Wthangarei), Norman (Sydney), Leslie (Palmerston N.), Theodore (Auckland) and Oscar (Kuawai, N. Wfliroa). Mr. Norman Dahl only arrived back in Palmerston on Wednesday from the East, where he had been travelling, and is hearing a double bereavement, his Avife’s father, Mi\ Peter Brown, of Marton, having passed away within an hour of his OAvn father.
