MAINTENANCE OF THE POUND.

At Monday night’s Borough Council meeting correspondence was read from the Council to the Mana’watu County Council suggesting that that body should assist in the maintenance of the local pound which was made considerable use of by the County ranger. The Manawatu County . Council, however, declined to assist in any way. The Mayor mentioned that Levin was closing its pound but lie did not (favour the closing of the local pound. Cr. Rangiheuea: Law suit as a protective measufre against wandering stodle is a more modern method of prevention! The (Mayor: Yes, but it is hardly fair in some instances.

The correspondence was received and it was decided to take no action in the matter;
