BUDGET PROPOSALS.

PRIME MINISTER. OPTIMISTIC. The conviction that the Budget would pass, through Parliament unscathed was expressed by the Prime Minister (Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward), when replying to a deputation from the New Zealand Land Values League at Wellington on Thursday. The 'Prime Minister stated that the legislation indicated in the Budget was fairly far-reaching. The proposals were apparently viewed with some antagonism by sections of the community, but the Government had to expect that when it made anything of. a forward move which affected land or mortgages. “I expect we will get pur proposals through Parliament all right,” Sir Joseph Ward added.
