PERSONAL.
The friends of Mr. H. Coley will regret to learn that hie is seriously ill. The Rev. T. Halliday, of St, Peter's Church, Grey Lynn, and late of Foxton, has been selected as manager of the Presbyterian Orphnnages in Auckland. A recommendation was made at last night’s annual meeting of the Foxton 'Racing Club that Mr. Geo. Hughes, of Paekakariki, should be elected a life member of the Club. Regret- was expressed by the President of the Foxton Racing ■Club at last night’s annual meeting, that Mr. C. A. Pearson had left Foxton. Mr. Pears;.n, said Mr. Barber, in moving that his resignation bo accepted with regret, had always been a willing helper and had assisted the Club in many ways. As a steward he bad carried put his duties well and the Club regretted his departure from the district. A. motion of sympathy was accorded Mr. H. 'Coley in bis illness by last night’s annual meeting of the Foxton Racing Club. The President expressed regret that Mr. Coley was not able to be present at the meeting. He. thought it was the first meetng be had missed during the last fifty years. However, although absent in the flesh he was present an the spirit and he had requested that lie should be acquainted until the business transacted at' the meeting at the earliest, possible moment. Mr. Barber expressed the hope that Mr. Coley would have a speedy recovery from his illness.
