ADDRBS S -IF-REPLY DEBATE. PROBABLY FINISH TO-DAY. The Address-in-Reply debate which has been draggling on since Parliament opened was expected to conclude last night. Much to the disappointment of the combined Opposition the Prime Minister refused to icaiu'y on but it-is anticipated that to-day will see the end of ii. The debate has been unnecessatily prolonged to enable the Government to put the finishing toui .lies to the Budget and finalise oilier legislative proposals. Ms. S. G. Smith in referring to the cessation of work on the Palmerston North deviation, said the unpopularity of the Reform party was largely due to its lavish waste of money in Palmerston Forth. He criticised the cost at which the ’Central School in that town had been built.
