MANAWATU RABBIT BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Manawatu Rabbit Board was held today, presided over by Trustee B. G. Gower (chairman). Also present were -Trustees F. iO. Riaik.es, J. !•. Mclvelvie, J. Gloyn, T. Grammar, A. Cooke, R. Boswell, R. Rangilieuea (secretary) and D. R. Barron (inspector). Leave of absence was granted to Trustee W. E. Barber. INSPECTOR’S REPORT. The inspector (Mr. D. R. Barron) reported as follows: — During the past month I have been engaged in the general inspection of properties in the Board’s area. The weather dining the month has not- been the usual weather experienced at this time of the year but nevertheless a very fair amount of work has been done and in most cases results have been very satisfactory. Very little poisoning remains to be done but several properties the owners of which have been written to or interviewed, are in need of fumigation. A number of properties, too, which ‘have been poisoned could now do with the fumigation of any visible working burrows as pointed out in the circular sent out with the Statutory Notices. I can only once more impress upon farmers the necessity for a general clean up of the rabbit pest at this time of the year. The district as a whole is in good order at present, and it is only necessary' now for owners to keep a constant watch on their properties to keep the pest- down to its present state. This advice has been given (many times but when the busy spring season comes along (he increase in the' pest is not noticed by |tibe and iany work on the farm is given preference to rabbit destruction work, with the result that extra work and expense is entailed. The lower levels are now well soaked with the recent rains and there should be no trouble whatever for any owner to deal with the complete eradication of the pest on his property. During the coming month I shall he engaged in carrying out a general inspection of work in the Board’s area.—Adopted. GENERAL.

It was decided to take no further action in an endeavour to have the destruction on hares removed. Accounts amounting to £SO 14s 5d were passed for payment.
